Amy Slattery Joins National AIA Trust

Amy Slattery AIA, founder of Odimo, was appointed in the Fall of 2017 by AIA President Thomas Vonier, FAIA, to serve as one of six Trustees for the National AIA Trust. In this five year appointment as Trustee, Amy works with independent consultants to evaluate, select, and monitor the programs and benefits provided by the AIA Trust.

The AIA trust provides risk management services to AIA Members and Components, for professional and personal support and advocacy at every stage of the profession. Beginning with new professionals, to the launch of a new practice, to growing and sustaining a firm, to winding a practice down, the AIA Trust provides valuable insurance and benefit programs at the greatest possible value.

This position with the AIA Trust is a continuation of Amy’s passion for leadership within the AIA on both a local and national level. Amy has served as co-chair for the AIA National Diversity & Inclusion Council (2012–2013), co-chair of the AIA National Women’s Leadership Summit (2011), and served on the Emerging Professionals Committee of the AIA Central States Region (2008–2009). In addition, she has served in a variety of roles for AIA Kansas City.

Amy says, “The future of our practice is to become more in-tune with the business of our clients. We can only do this if we further encourage business thinking to be just as critical in architectural education and the profession itself, as design. Alternative business models of design/build, development partnerships, and joint ventures can increase the business potential of our members, but must be served with robust risk management tools. This is an incredible opportunity to serve the AIA, and I look forward to increased communication, engagement, and awareness about the importance and value provided by the AIA Trust.”

The Odimo team will be in New York City from June 21-23 for the AIA Conference1 on Architecture, so be sure to follow their #aiacon18 conference experience on Instagram!
