School Smart KC

SchoolSmartKC is an innovative Kansas City non-profit that focuses energy and financial support to develop, expand, and fortify school programs within the Kansas City Public School district. Slattery collaborated with SSKC to design its first, dedicated headquarters in Midtown Kansas City. The scope entailed the full coordination and integration of architecture, interior design, furniture specification, and systems for this 5,000 square foot hub that is a home for community and non-profit collaboration around critical issues around youth education.

The space was an existing building that had been vacant for decades. Working hand-in-hand with the building owner and construction group, the Slattery team crafted an open plan integrating an executive level board room with community workshop space and small break out rooms. Branded as “The Hive”. With highly functional, flexible furniture systems and an abundance of natural light, the space is adaptable to facilitate the programming of any group utilizing the space.
