KU Chi Omega Gateway

The Chi Omega fountain is an iconic symbol at the University of Kansas; seen as a gateway to Jayhawk Boulevard which is the heart of the campus.  However, for generations the fountain has been separated from student and visitor pedestrians by vehicular traffic patterns.

Slattery was invited to develop concepts and coordinate cost estimating efforts for an upgraded pedestrian experience at the historic fountain. In collaboration with Landworks Studio and Strata Architecture + Preservation a conceptual design was developed for new signage, landscaping, lighting, and seating. These proposed additions respect the scale and existing materiality of the historic surroundings, while inviting students and visitors to interact with the Chi Omega fountain directly.
